The annual Maryland Avenue Fall Festival "Halloween on the Avenue," scheduled for October 20 this year, is one of the city’s oldest and most anticipated street fairs. Stretching from the State House all the way down to the Naval Academy, this community celebration affords locals one last chance to enjoy the historic market district without having to put on your winter coat.
The all-day event not only draws visitors to all of the hip boutiques, galleries, and shops that are permanently along the avenue, but also includes an array of artists, craftspeople, and vendors from all over the region who set up temporary shop along the street. Musical performers, face painters, a costume contest, and a pet parade will all entertain the young ones, while grown ups can enjoy stopping into one of the many bars and pubs serving craft brews and fine wines along the Avenue.
